Putting the Fight Conditioning into Strength and Conditioning at Horsepower in Fridley, MN
After setting a new personal record on front squats, personal trainer Matt Miller prepped me for the fight conditioning portion of the workout. This was the circuit from hell, but having completed it, hindsight has helped me appreciate it. Each round in a Muay Thai fight, afterall, is hell on the cardio. If I can push it outside of the fight, I'll be better equipped to push it inside of the ring, and hopefully, be strong when my opponent fades.
Without giving too much away, the circuit consists of a series of log presses, tire flips, and sled sprints. Not too bad until I learned that we're doing this circuit for time. We did 5 rounds of this circuit, on my first round I went over the cut-off time, then made time on my next 3 rounds, the last round was particularly painful. I finished, but was over the allotted time cut-off. I look forward to getting stronger and faster on the conditioning circuit at Horsepower Strength and Conditioning. I'd like to build up to where I'm able to complete 9 rounds for time.
